Ever wonder why different strains offer a variety of different effects. This is due to the TAC, the total active cannabinoids that come in this, and here, we’ll discuss what this means for you as a cannabis consumer.
What TAC Is
TAC is the amount of cannabinoids that are digestible, and of course, what it can be used to help create the overall high effects that are there.
This synergistic effect does create the entourage effect, where it’s expressed in the amount of context of TAC and the difference between that and THC, and how it’s not just in opposition, but instead will enhance each other.
The entourage effect isn’t very understood, and it is something that’s still being studied, butt research does say that this is real, and it’s a phenomenon.
In most cases, it’s speculated that these cannabinoids in strains do work together to create the same final initial effects, but it’s not as simple as the THC equaling the Y high, but it’s more of ow these different compounds work together. Having a more 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD is actually great for counteracting a ton of the negative elements of THC that may happen, including paranoid and of course a racing heart.
TAC Vs TAC
There are two different names for TAC.
The first is total active cannabinoids, which are how many cannabinoids are active in a product.
The second one, is total aerobic count, which is a term that describes the total amount of microbial content within the product.
In commercial kinds of cannabis operations, breeders oftentimes submit the cannabis to TAC testing before it goes to market, but it’s not a very ingesting process and it’s quite limited.
This doesn’t tell you whether or not the microbes are good or bad for this, and whether or not the fungicide will affect the overall state of this.
Low TAC doesn’t also indicate the low presence of the microbes too.
For buyers though, this is not concerning, since most of the time this is advertised in the final parts of the product, which include the total active cannabinoids, based on how many there may be.
What cannabinoids are there?
The thing is, there are over 113 different cannabinoids in these plants.
There is of course, THC and CBD, but there is also CBGS, which is another cannabinoid that’s recently produced other kinds of cannabinoids too.
There is also THCA, which is a precursor that you see to THC, and before it’s decarbed, it’s in this form.
CBD is another, which is when THC starts to degrade, and it can possibly help with sleep.
CBC is another one, and while there isn’t much known about this, it does have an affinity towards your CB2 receptors, and this one is definitely good for looking at the entourage effect that comes with this too.
Finally, there is CBDV, which is another common cannabinoid found in a lot of the indica strains, being similar to CBD itself, but with similar notable effects.
There are other cannabinoids that do play a part, including terpenes, different flavonoids, and even fatty acids that take roles in this too.
This may be surprising, but the effects of this can be altered in some cases through the inhibition of different neurotransmitters too, and it can possibly change how this is used.
Right now, the best way to figure this out is get familiar with the compounds and understand that there are a bunch of different kinds of ways that you can use to fine-tune the experience to make this good.
